What is Transumbilical Breast Augmentation?

Transumbilical Breast Augmentation, commonly referred to as T.U.B.A., scarless or belly button breast augmentation and Endo BAM, is the surgery to increase the breast size by implanting breast implants through the umbilicus, navel or belly button.  This surgery has proven itself to be a faster, more accurate and less invasive procedure--creating a larger breast without visible scars on the breasts or in the armpit.  This surgery has created a lot of controversy in the past by those who do not know how to perform it.  Surgeons who have not been trained in this technique often scoff at its safety and efficacy even though there are by far fewer complications and less physical stress to the patient with this particular method.

Transumbilical Breast Augmentation is very effective at delivering the desired results to the patient usually with less downtime and unnecessary post-operative care as comparable with standard incision sites.  This endoscopic technique also has its advantages when breast size is substantially increased.  Reason being, there is no tension on the incision line which can cause opening of the wounds which may lead to infection and unsightly stretched scars as in the traditional breast augmentation.  Many patients needing a breast lift and augmentation can benefit from this procedure. However, patients needing a lot of mastopexy (breast lift) who are opting for such will usually have their breast implants placed through their mastopexy incisions.  If you desire larger breasts, need breast reconstruction, do not want or need a small or a moderate lift and are in good physical condition (no active diseases, disorders or mental instabilities) with good skin elasticity--T.U.B.A. may be definitely the procedure for you.
